Continuing a career shaped by a deep commitment to sustainability and integrated building science, Ben has long advocated for modern construction practices that enhance occupant comfort, long-term performance, and overall durability. He approaches projects from a holistic perspective, with the understanding that buildings are a collection of systems that must work together and be coordinated from the very beginning of design in order to deliver a beautifully cohesive and successful project. This includes the balance required between embodied carbon, operational carbon, and durability when selecting systems and products. His experience spans custom homes, multifamily housing, light commercial projects, and major infrastructure work.

Since beginning his architectural career in 2006, Ben has been dedicated to improving the built environment and is licensed in both Oregon and Washington. In 2012, he designed and helped construct Oregon’s first Habitat for Humanity Passive House, in 2019 he helped shepherd the 66 unit Ellie Passivhaus project (the largest Phius certified market-rate apartment building in Seattle) though Phius certification, and 2024 became a teacher for the CPHC training through PHIUS, aligning with his passion for communicating building science to all.
